  • Double space all reference entries
  • Keep the order of authors as listed in the article, even if they are not in alphabetical order
  • Volume number is italicized, but issue number is not. If the article does not include an issue number, leave this out.
  • If you listed a source on your "References" page, you MUST have cited that source in your paper.

Frequently Asked Questions

I found the article in a library database, like EBSCOhost?

  • APA 7th Edition does not include the name of the database or the permalink from library databases.  Articles in the library database usually provide page numbers and the DOI, so you will most likely use one of the examples above.

What if my article has between 2 to 20 authors?

  • If you have 2 to 20 authors, list the first 19 and then include an ampersand before the last author's name. The in-text citation will be (last name of the first author et all., publication date).

What if my article has more than 20 authors?

  • If you have more than 20 authors include the names of the first 19, insert an ellipsis...and then add the final author's name. You will not need to use an ampersand & in this reference. The in-text citation will be (last name of the first author et all., publication date).
